PhotoBlend / Release notes
PhotoBlend 1.2 Beta 18
1.2.0-beta.18 · Windows x64 · Blender 5.2 · Released 21 October 2026.
What changed in beta 18 · build 1809
- Build 1809: corrected normal Blender addon startup registration; separate rendering resources and cursor tracking for each window; bounded reusable caches and improved cleanup after loading, undoing and closing windows. Corrected canvas-edge strokes and accelerated supported effects with reference fallbacks. Shape edges now match between CPU and GPU composition. Explicit beta 14 adjustment recovery preserves shared animation users, supports undo/redo and rolls back failures. The same editor code passed a real signed online update, restart and registration as private build 1808. Build 1807 was withdrawn.
- Build 1806: a compact account panel with sign-in fallbacks, connection details and update recovery inside Troubleshooting. Profiles report the computer name and Blender version; registered profiles can be renamed or disconnected from the website. New connections use a two-profile account limit; existing registrations remain usable.
- Build 1805: visible Image Editor update badge, available build numbers, release-note previews and last-check status. Clear connection-limit messages; existing connections remain usable after a limit change.
- Build 1804: one account section while signed out, with update and repair controls retained. Includes the earlier channel-message and readable-panel fixes.
- Signed update checks and authenticated downloads inside PhotoBlend. Update installation waits for Blender to exit and requires your confirmation.
- Verified staging, installation recovery and a retained previous version after an update.
- Same-build repair downloads, plus temporary repair codes from the activated beta page when normal addon sign-in is unavailable. Repair access does not unlock editing.
- Account verification and installation identity repairs. Browser sign-in, manual approval fallback and the seven-day maximum offline policy remain available.
First updater-enabled build: install this ZIP manually over beta 17 or an unsigned preview. Later compatible signed builds can be delivered through the updater.
Editing tools in this beta
Layers and groups, painting and erasing, selections, editable masks, adjustments, effects, basic shapes, transforms, GPU previews, Render/Viewer source imports, HDR working-space controls and supported PSD import/export.
Beta 18 builds on the earlier beta 16 editor and beta 17 account work. It does not introduce AI editing, 3D model painting or paid features.
Known limitations
- One current binary target: Windows x64 with Blender 5.2. Other platforms and Blender/Python versions need separate compatible builds.
- PSD compatibility varies: supported content stays editable where possible; unsupported content and some transformed effects/shapes can use rendered fallbacks. Exact Photoshop appearance is not guaranteed for every file.
- Complex workflows remain under beta review: focused multi-window, recovery, shape-edge and startup checks pass; this does not establish every large-document or real-project workflow. Shape geometry changes may require native rasterization before the cached appearance can be reused. Recovery of ambiguous old adjustments requires explicit selection and confirmation; dependent drivers are rejected for manual migration.
- Account connection required: editing and export lock after verification access expires or a session is revoked. Reconnect online to continue.
- Update installation: background checks do not silently replace files. Confirm installation, save your work and close all Blender processes. Manual installation remains available if repair cannot complete.
Keep a saved copy of your Blender project, images and original PSD before trying a beta update or round trip.
